About Me
Let me begin with the fact that I am no master at the endeavors I write of. While I love each pursuit in a way you will learn by spending time here, I cannot promise that you will learn something new. At best, you will kill some time reading about something you like that I happen to as well; places beyond the walls. At absolute best, you will reach out and I will learn something new from you. So, if pastimes such as writing, fishing, hunting, hiking, conservation, and exploring strike your interest like flint to steel; please, stick around, you may be in the right place! If not, you are still welcome to pursue my ramblings but again, no promises they will be useful to you.
At any rate, I will share my stories with you in hope that maybe you too will go off wandering away from city’s demands for even a weekend to try and remember how feral your blood truly is, how the river’s ramblings can be hypnotic, how nature’s theories are worth listening to. I will try my best to share my techniques though I must admit now; I have a few old faithful’s when it comes to fishing and hunting such as chartreuse colors and throwing something on the surface that resembles nearby under rock dwellers but everything else is a crapshoot. I’ll share what works for me anyways and the joys of success as well as the necessity of failures the best I can in my reiterations of the weekends. This blog will likely serve you no specific purpose as I will touch on trout and deer and places where it’s hard to get your footing but also maybe a bit about authors, and painters, and music I think is cool; maybe my garden’s cucumber vines will stretch into my stories or my infinite failures in outdoor pursuits as I carry a Band-Aid box like a pack of cigarettes in my shirt pocket when heading out for the day. Most of this, will be my random thoughts that I know better than to exhaust my family and friends and even God’s ear on and probably aren’t worthy of each one’s time anyways - so again, I thank you for passing your time here and I hope you will return your thoughts on any and all matters. My favorite way to learn is through the words of someone who has mastered his or her craft or who has spent most of their time in nature and my favorite way to teach is to realize before I try, I’d rather just write instead.

On another note, I started this blog to create a placeholder for my most enjoyed pursuits and to share the one thing I always walk away from experiences in nature having; a story. I consider these recordings to be a gift back to the beautiful things I have received from hunting, fishing, and exploring; boy will Mother Nature be pissed when she realizes this is all I got for her. That said, I care most about taking care of the thing that has always taken care of me; the land (and water) so occasionally I will share some lessons & practices I have collected along the way regarding that too (steep learning curve here).
Regarding me, what's there to know? I like the way drawing back a bow and pulling a wacky worm through the water feels. I think mountains and the moon make for a hell of a view. I don’t mind the smell of bonfire smoke and I’m even getting tolerable of doe estrus urine – it has gone that far, my friends. Nature & the adventures it offers are worth talking about, so I figured this would be a good spot for it to land for now - what else is there to say?

All in all, feel free to tag along as I gratefully spend bits of my time with fish, deer, rivers, mayflies and people who share a love for the formerly listed like myself. I will share those stories with you in an effort to try to capture the meaning of these wilder places in our own lives; as if I ever could.

And cheers to feral weekends!
